Military Consumer Protection
Patrick Sheehan is a Marine Corp veteran of the Vietnam War. Michael Ramsey is currently serving his 12th year in the Air Force Reserve. Our attorneys understand what it means to serve.
There are two main laws designed to prevent servicemembers from predatory loans and unfair practices:
- The Military Lending Act caps interest rates on loans to active duty military members as well as Reservists and Guardsmen on Orders. It also limits some of the terms that lenders can put in loans and the types of fees that they can charge.
- The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act is designed to provide relief to active duty military members who are PCSing and Reservists and Guardsmen who are called to active duty. The SCRA caps interest on loans and credit cards when a reservist or guardsman is activated and it allows all military members the ability to walk away from leases and contracts when they are called to serve or PCS.
Our attorneys can advise you of your rights and sue predatory lenders if they try to take advantage of our military members. Please call us to schedule a free consultation.
